OpenUp is a digital engineering practice in Papeete, French Polynesia. We build and operate the systems organisations depend on — software, automation, AI agents — one team from design through to daily running. We work with companies and public bodies across French Polynesia, and increasingly with organisations elsewhere in the Pacific.
Most digital suppliers available to Pacific organisations are built for somewhere else. A few things are different when your supplier is from an island too.
Multi-site operations across islands, one person who carries a whole process, seasonal peaks, small public administrations, data you want to keep at home, two languages on every screen. This is not a niche for us; it is the job.
We work with a handful of organisations at a time, by design. The person who writes to you is the person who does the work — no account manager, no hand-off to a junior team.
Most projects in the region end at delivery; the system then lives or dies with whoever is left holding it. Our engagements include the running: monitoring, fixes, improvements, a written point every week.
In a small market one or two suppliers often serve everyone, including your competitor next door. We don't.
Rarotonga is on our clock. For Nouméa, Suva, Port-Vila or Auckland, your morning is our previous afternoon — we plan the overlap in writing (see below).

Rarotonga is a 2 h 45 direct flight from Tahiti, several times a week; Nouméa and Auckland are direct flights too. We come for the framing workshop and for each milestone that deserves a room.
English and French, written and spoken; reo Tahiti on screens when it matters.

We invoice in CFP francs (XPF, pegged to the euro); NZD, AUD or EUR invoicing on request. Payment by international transfer.
French Polynesia is outside the EU VAT area. Where your country applies a withholding tax on foreign services, the quote states it explicitly (for the Cook Islands, we are confirming the treatment with the Revenue Management Division).
Under French law as applicable in French Polynesia by default; local-law arrangements can be discussed for bounded engagements. Fixed price, signed scope, no surprise.
Stays yours, hosted where you choose (your premises, your cloud, or ours in France/Polynesia). Personal data handled to European standards (GDPR applies in French Polynesia).

Our usual first engagement is a written review: three weeks, fixed fee quoted upfront, built from your documents and two or three working sessions. You get a bounded document — what the chain looks like today, what it costs you, the two or three fixes worth doing, in what order — and a decision at the end. If the answer is "nothing to do", you've lost three weeks and a fixed fee, not a system.
